3-3. Dunes Overlook Trail

除了最熱門的沙丘以及Medano Creek區域，公園也有其他地方可以走動，其中Dunes Overlook Trail是一條相對容易的步道。這步道的起點在公園的營區Piñon Flats Campground裡，步道口大概能停五輛車，如果你有在這營區過夜會比較方便，可以直接從營地走過來。
Dunes Overlook Trail來回只有2.5 miles，且爬升不到500 feet，加上沿路不少地方都有樹遮陽，一般來說走起來算是容易。沿路風景不算有什麼多大的驚喜，即使到了終點可能也不覺得跟從馬路上看到有多大不同。因為沿路有不少narrow-leaf cottonwood這樹葉會變金黃的樹，秋天也許是走這步道最好看的季節。
這步道我走過兩次，另一次是在午後接近傍晚時候走，雖然在到達步道終點時因為雲太厚使得眼前景象缺乏層次感，但回程時的夕陽雲彩效果還不錯。如果想找個地方看夕陽，這步道的終點是個可以考慮的地方，而且可以靠餘暉用大約廿多分鐘走回步道口，安全性應該還可以。
